Galveston, Texas- This holiday season the Moody Gardens Expo will come to life with the magical sights and sounds of the season. Moody Gardens and Island Star performances are proud to present The Gift of Christmas Live – a very special dinner and show.
Written and composed exclusively for Moody Gardens, the show’s signature song, “The Gift of Christmas,” is a celebration of the true spirit of Christmas. Co-written by Kell and Julie Curtis, the song conveys Christmas as God’s gift to us all. Julie originally envisioned the song in a more Broadway style, but that all changed once writing began. “Once we started to write, a whole new concept came out. The more I thought about what Christmas means to me, the more the song began to change. Christmas, in reality, is a time for healing, a time for solace and safety, a time for family and memories. As fast as our lives are these days, Christmas is the one time to slow down and really think about The Gift. Everyone needs to be loved and comforted, and that is what I really wanted to convey,” Julie said.
This fall brought us Hurricane Ike and now the onset of a national financial crisis. We at Moody Gardens believe, at times like these, Christmas should be cherished rather than glossed over as just another holiday break. Julie echoes those sentiments. “Strangely enough, ‘The Gift of Christmas’ came about before the hurricane, so now it seems even more appropriate. No matter what your religion, no matter who you believe in, please take this time to feel loved, because you are loved, you are cherished and you will find hope – even in the darkest of times.”
Moody Gardens invites you to join us for this special musical presentation. In addition to “The Gift of Christmas” the show features wonderful renditions of such favorites as “The First Noel,” O Holy Night” and others, all blended with beautiful stage scenes to set the mood for an inspirational and engaging experience that will have you singing in the aisles
The show will begin on December 18 and run daily through December 28. Daily Matinee performances begin at 3:30pm with caroling and traditional Christmas snacks, cookies and seasonal beverages, followed by the start of the show at 4pm. Daily Dinner-Show performances begin at 6:30pm with caroling and hors d’ oeuvres, followed by a three-course dinner at 7:00pm with the start of the show at 8pm.
Tickets are $18/child and $24/adult for the afternoon Matinee performance and $24/child and $38/adult for the evening Dinner-Show performance. Group rates are also available for groups of 20 or more and range in price from $14 to $32.
