UNIQUE PERFORMANCE MERGES ART FORMS FOR UNITED WAY BENEFIT
Music meets canvas with a dab of theater at Moody Gardens June 14.
“Euforia Live” is a show introducing music to art, a live theater performance in which pianist Seth Simmons performs original music compositions while fine artist Rolando Diaz creates an original work in oil on canvas.
After about an hour and a quarter, the music stops but the melody lingers in painting that has emerged from a blank canvas. Viewers relive the passion of the piano, the romance of brush stroke and keyboard–they know and can even hear exactly how each touch of color was inspired.
Then the bidding begins. The painting will be auctioned off to benefit the United Way of Galveston.
“Euforia Live” will be the 2007 premier of the United Way of Galveston Community Campaign, scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Moody Gardens Convention Center. Open to the public, the evening will include wine and hors d’oeuvres and an auction of other works by local artists, all benefiting the United Way.
“Euforia Live is captivating,” said 2007 United Way Community Campaign Chair Garvin O’Neil. “You really have to see it. Seth and Rolando have scheduled performances throughout the country and abroad, and I believe they will become very famous soon.”
O’Neil said he is also excited about the premier of the 2007 United Way campaign.
“We have a great team ready to get started raising money for the needs of the community,” he said, “and what better way to start than with a fun, high-energy evening of music, art and camaraderie.”
Tickets to “Euforia Live” are $75 per person, available through the United Way of Galveston, (409) 762-HELP, or www.unitedwaygalveston.com.
