GALVESTON, Texas - Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center is pleased to announce that the hotel was voted the best in Galveston by the public in the “Best of Citysearch Houston” poll for 2006. In a category where just being nominated is a prestigious recognition, taking top honors is truly special.

In addition to being named the Best Galveston Hotel by the voting public, Moody Gardens was selected by Citysearch editors as well as the public as the Best Family Friendly Hotel and also was the recipient of the editor’s choice award for Best Getaway Hotel.
When making their selection for Best Getaway Hotel, Citysearch editors were concerned with a number of key factors, including how the hotel imparts a feeling of being far from home, the variety of recreational options offered, the ability of the resort to keep guests’ attention, privacy and seclusion, quality dining opportunities, and the upscale feel of the rooms.
“Moody Gardens was the natural choice for this category because of the many recreational activities that can be found in close proximity,” said Citysearch editor Josh Hinsdale. When considering their selection options for Best Family Friendly Hotel, editors analyzed several criteria, including convenience, facilities for children, size of the rooms, dining options, recreational facilities and the variety of nearby activities.
“Moody Gardens excelled in this category due to their location as part of the Moody Gardens complex, which offers a sand beach, IMAX Theater, museum-quality nature displays and other attractions. The hotel itself is very family-friendly, with multiple dining options, comfortable rooms and a staff that caters to the needs of families and groups," Hinsdale said.
Voters were in agreement with the editors’ selection, as they too chose Moody Gardens as the Best Family Friendly Hotel. The resorts’ continuing commitment to provide guests with a complete line-up of fun family entertainment strongly resonated with the voting audience.
The Best of Citysearch is a nationwide polling program that allows consumers to vote for their favorite places in their own home town and cities where they travel. Voting is done over several weeks, allowing time to tabulate thousands of votes from across the country. At the end of the voting period, Citysearch publishes the reader's choice winners in a variety of categories and also names an editorial winner for each category. The editorial winners are selected by the local Citysearch editors, who use their own knowledge of their cities to determine their choices for the best locations.
