Galveston’s beaches are receiving their own make-over through the “Beach Nourishment Project.”  The goal of the six million dollar project is to deposit up to 500,000 cubic feet of new sand on Galveston’s beaches between 10th Street and 61st Street. The project is scheduled for completion by March 31 in order to coincide with Kemp Ridley sea turtle nesting season.
The city has been working day and night to complete the multi-million dollar beach re-nourishment project, which is adding over fifty feet of beach along the Seawall. Both visitors and locals alike are excited about the project that will further enhance the Galveston beach experience.
